CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This is a critical SQL injection vulnerability in TSG Profleet version 12.004.01. It allows attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via a GET request using the 'Identificación' parameter in the '/cgi-bin/index.php' endpoint without authentication.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SQL injection vulnerability in TSG Profleet, monitor HTTP GET requests to the '/cgi-bin/index.php' endpoint for the 'Identificación' parameter. Look for unusual or malformed input in this parameter that may indicate SQL injection attempts. Use network traffic analysis tools like Wireshark or tcpdump to inspect requests. Enable and review web server logs for suspicious patterns or repeated requests to this endpoint.

  • Check web server logs for GET requests containing 'Identificación' parameter with suspicious values like single quotes, semicolons, or SQL keywords (e.g., UNION, SELECT, INSERT).
  • Use tools like SQLmap to test for SQL injection by sending crafted requests to the vulnerable endpoint.
Impact Analysis

An attacker could retrieve, create, update, or delete sensitive data from the database. This could lead to unauthorized access to confidential information, data manipulation, or complete system compromise.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and confidentiality. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust due to non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately restrict access to the '/cgi-bin/index.php' endpoint by blocking external requests or implementing IP whitelisting. Temporarily disable the 'Identificación' parameter if possible or validate all inputs strictly. Monitor database activity for unauthorized queries or data changes. Consider isolating the affected system from critical network segments until a patch is available.

  • Apply input validation and parameterized queries to sanitize the 'Identificación' parameter.
  • Update firewall rules to block malicious patterns in HTTP requests targeting this endpoint.
