Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an authorization bypass in the Oqtane Framework version 10.2.6 or earlier. It allows a site administrator on one tenant to read private settings of another tenant's site by exploiting the SettingController. Specifically, attackers can request another site's entityId using their own alias to retrieve sensitive values like SMTPPassword and SMTPClientSecret.

Impact Analysis

If you are a site administrator or user of an Oqtane Framework instance, this vulnerability could allow unauthorized access to sensitive configuration details of other sites on the same multi-tenant system. This may lead to data breaches, unauthorized email sending, or further exploitation of the affected system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR and HIPAA due to unauthorized access to sensitive data such as email credentials. GDPR requires protection of personal data, and HIPAA mandates safeguarding protected health information. A breach could result in legal penalties and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Oqtane Framework to version 10.2.7 or later to address the authorization bypass in SettingController. Review and restrict access to sensitive settings like SMTPPassword and SMTPClientSecret for all site administrators.
