Executive Summary

FastBee through version 2.1.0 has an insecure direct object reference vulnerability. This means authenticated low-privilege users can access other users' device groups because the GroupController does not verify ownership. Attackers, including self-registered users, can manipulate group IDs to read, modify, or delete other users' groups and device associations.

Impact Analysis

If you use FastBee, an attacker with low privileges could access your device groups, read sensitive data, overwrite configurations, reassign devices, or delete your groups entirely. This could lead to data loss, unauthorized access, or disruption of services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data or HIPAA by allowing unauthorized access to protected health information. It undermines data integrity and confidentiality requirements, potentially leading to compliance violations and legal consequences.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade FastBee to a version that includes proper owner checks in GroupController. If upgrading is not immediately possible, restrict access to authenticated users with appropriate privileges and monitor group ID sequences for suspicious activity.
