Executive Summary

ThinkAdmin think-plugs-admin through version 1.0.81 has an insecure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerability. This flaw allows non-super administrators to read or modify other administrators' file records by exploiting the admin/file.edit functionality. Attackers with access to this node can request or send POST data with parameters like xurl, hash, or uuid to view download URLs, alter records, or change file ownership.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized access to admin/file.edit endpoints by monitoring HTTP requests targeting this path. Look for GET or POST requests with parameters like id, xurl, hash, or uuid from non-super administrator accounts.

Impact Analysis

If you are an administrator using ThinkAdmin think-plugs-admin up to version 1.0.81, non-super admins could access or tamper with your file records without authorization. This could lead to data leaks, unauthorized modifications, or loss of file ownership, potentially disrupting operations or exposing sensitive information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance requirements such as GDPR or HIPAA by enabling unauthorized access to sensitive data. GDPR requires protecting personal data, while HIPAA mandates safeguarding protected health information. Exploiting this flaw may lead to unauthorized data exposure, resulting in legal penalties or loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Update ThinkAdmin think-plugs-admin to the latest version beyond 1.0.81. Restrict access to admin/file.edit by implementing proper authorization checks. Review logs for suspicious activity related to file record modifications.
