Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an insecure direct object reference in Shaiwz data-platform-open. Authenticated workspace members can access other workspaces' datasources by sending sequential numeric IDs to specific endpoints like /datasource/detail or /delete. This allows them to obtain JDBC credentials, enumerate database schemas, and modify or delete datasources.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with access could steal sensitive database credentials, view or alter confidential data across workspaces, or delete critical datasources. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized modifications, or service disruptions for affected organizations.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of compliance certifications.

Mitigation Strategies

Implement strict access controls to prevent unauthorized access to workspaces. Ensure that authenticated users can only access their own workspace data. Regularly audit workspace membership and datasource permissions to detect unauthorized access attempts.
