Executive Summary

WhaTicket Community has an insecure direct object reference vulnerability. Authenticated agents can access other agents' tickets by manipulating ticket IDs in URLs. The ShowTicketService fails to verify ownership or queue permissions, allowing unauthorized access to ticket details and message history.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized access to tickets by monitoring GET requests to /tickets/:ticketId and /messages/:ticketId with different ticket IDs. Look for repeated requests with varying IDs from the same authenticated agent.

Impact Analysis

If you are an authenticated agent using WhaTicket Community, attackers could exploit this to read your private tickets and messages. This could lead to data leaks, unauthorized access to sensitive conversations, or misuse of ticket information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data without authorization. For HIPAA, unauthorized access to ticket messages may compromise protected health information. Compliance failures could result in legal penalties and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Implement ownership and queue checks in ShowTicketService to validate ticket access. Restrict POST WhatsApp replies to authorized agents only. Update to the latest secure version of WhaTicket Community.
