Description

JeecgBoot before 3.9.5 contains an sql injection vulnerability that allows authenticated attackers to bypass the SqlInjectionUtil keyword blocklist by inserting newline characters into dictionary and online report SQL fragments. Attackers can send newline-separated payloads to endpoints like /sys/dict/getDictItems for boolean or time-based blind injection, extracting database contents including administrator password hashes from sys_user.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This is a SQL injection vulnerability in JeecgBoot versions before 3.9.5. It allows authenticated attackers to bypass the SqlInjectionUtil keyword blocklist by inserting newline characters into SQL fragments. Attackers can send newline-separated payloads to endpoints like /sys/dict/getDictItems to perform boolean or time-based blind SQL injection, extracting database contents including administrator password hashes from sys_user.

Detection Guidance

Monitor network traffic for suspicious requests to endpoints like /sys/dict/getDictItems containing newline characters or SQL keywords separated by whitespace. Check application logs for time delays or errors indicating potential blind SQL injection attempts.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, attackers could extract sensitive data such as administrator password hashes, leading to potential unauthorized access, data breaches, or further system compromise. The vulnerability requires authentication but allows significant data exposure and manipulation of database contents.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or exfiltration, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements for protected health information. Organizations using vulnerable versions may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade JeecgBoot to version 3.9.5 or later immediately. Review and enhance SQL injection detection mechanisms to block newline-separated payloads. Audit Shiro configuration to prevent URL-based authentication bypasses.
