Executive Summary

This is a denial-of-service vulnerability caused by improper handling of network storm traffic. It can interrupt communication, cause device faults, and affect open TCP and UDP ports. Recovery requires a power cycle to restore the device to normal operation.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires monitoring for network storm traffic or unusual interruptions in communication. Check for open TCP/UDP ports behaving abnormally. Use network monitoring tools like Wireshark to capture and analyze traffic patterns for signs of network storms or device faults.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability may lead to service disruptions, loss of network connectivity, and potential device malfunctions. Critical operations relying on the affected product could experience downtime until a power cycle is performed.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately isolate affected devices from the network to prevent further disruption. Apply network segmentation to limit exposure. Contact Rockwell Automation support for patches or updates. A power cycle may be required to restore normal operation after mitigation.
