CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an SQL Injection flaw in Brocade SANnav versions before 3.0.0a. It allows an authenticated attacker to inject malicious data into REST API query parameters used for external API inventories.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this SQL injection vulnerability requires checking Brocade SANnav logs for suspicious API queries. Look for unusual REST API requests with SQL-like patterns in query parameters. Monitor for failed authentication attempts or unexpected data modifications in the inventory endpoints.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could manipulate database queries to access, modify, or delete sensitive data stored in the SANnav system. This may lead to unauthorized data exposure, data corruption, or system compromise.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or disclosure of personal or sensitive data, potentially violating GDPR, HIPAA, or other compliance requirements. Organizations may face legal penalties or reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Brocade SANnav to version 3.0.0a or later immediately. Restrict access to the REST API endpoints to trusted networks or IP addresses. Review and audit API logs for signs of exploitation. Apply network-level protections to block malicious query patterns.
