Description

EspoCRM is an open source customer relationship management application. From 8.1.0 until 9.3.8, an authenticated non-administrator can submit a crafted where parameter to the GET entity streamAttachments endpoint because that query path permits complex expressions. Boolean-based blind SQL injection can extract arbitrary database information, including active administrator session tokens, and can enable full privilege escalation. This issue is fixed in version 9.3.8.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-53574 is a blind SQL injection vulnerability in EspoCRM versions 8.1.0 to 9.3.7. It allows authenticated non-administrator users to submit a crafted where parameter to the GET entity streamAttachments endpoint. The vulnerability arises from improper validation of complex expressions, enabling boolean-based blind SQL injection. Attackers can extract arbitrary database information, including active administrator session tokens, and escalate privileges to full system access.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor network traffic for unusual SQL query patterns or errors in EspoCRM logs. Check for requests to the /api/v1/<Entity>/<id>/streamAttachments endpoint with complex where parameters. Use tools like SQLMap to test for blind SQL injection by sending crafted payloads to the endpoint.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to extract sensitive data from the database, including administrator session tokens. This can lead to full privilege escalation, giving attackers administrative access to the EspoCRM system. Confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system may be compromised, potentially exposing all stored customer relationship management data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access controls. Non-compliance may result in legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust. Organizations using vulnerable versions must patch immediately to maintain regulatory compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade EspoCRM to version 9.3.8 or later. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to the /api/v1/<Entity>/<id>/streamAttachments endpoint and review input validation for the where parameter. Implement WAF rules to block suspicious query patterns.
