Executive Summary

This vulnerability in GitLab CE/EE versions 13.8 to 19.2.7, 19.3.0 to 19.3.4, and 19.4.0 to 19.4.1 allows an authenticated user with reporter role to access restricted CI artifact report content they are not authorized to view due to missing authorization checks.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects GitLab CE/EE versions 13.8 before 19.2.8, 19.3 before 19.3.5, and 19.4 before 19.4.2. To detect it, check your GitLab version using the command: gitlab-rake gitlab:env:info. If your version falls within the affected range, update immediately to a patched version.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with reporter role could access sensitive CI artifact reports, potentially exposing confidential data such as build logs, test results, or other internal information not meant for their access.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by allowing unauthorized access to restricted CI artifact report content. Unauthorized data exposure may lead to violations of confidentiality requirements under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade GitLab to a patched version: 19.2.8, 19.3.5, or 19.4.2 or later to address the missing authorization checks in CI artifact reports.
