Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an improper privilege management issue in Genian SSL PNS. It allows an attacker to escalate privileges to super administrator level and force the creation of an OS account by manipulating permission values during CSV bulk user registration.

Detection Guidance

Check Genian SSL PNS versions before 5.0.0 for unauthorized privilege escalation attempts during CSV bulk user registration. Monitor for unusual superadmin privilege assignments or SSH account creations in /etc/passwd.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain full administrative control over the system, create unauthorized user accounts, and potentially compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. This could lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system takeover.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and data breaches, violating compliance requirements for GDPR and HIPAA. It may result in unauthorized data exposure, lack of audit controls, and failure to protect sensitive information.

Mitigation Strategies
