Description

The ACF Frontend Admin by DynamiApps WordPress plugin through 3.29.13 does not restrict which PHP classes may be instantiated when it deserialises stored post content that is rendered on public-facing pages, allowing high-privilege users such as administrators to inject a PHP object which, given a suitable POP chain in another installed ACF Frontend Admin by DynamiApps WordPress plugin through 3.29.13 or in WordPress core, can be leveraged to achieve remote code execution.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a PHP Object Injection flaw in the ACF Frontend Admin by DynamiApps WordPress plugin versions below 3.30.0. It occurs due to improper deserialization of user-supplied input in stored post content rendered on public pages. High-privilege users like administrators can inject malicious PHP objects. If a suitable POP chain exists in another plugin or WordPress core, attackers could exploit this to achieve remote code execution.

Detection Guidance

Check if the ACF Frontend Admin by DynamiApps plugin version is below 3.30.0. Use commands like 'wp plugin list' in WordPress CLI or inspect the plugin directory for version details. Look for suspicious serialized data in post content that may indicate deserialization attempts.

Impact Analysis

If you are an administrator or high-privilege user of a vulnerable WordPress site, an attacker with access could exploit this to execute arbitrary code remotely. This could lead to full site compromise, data theft, or further attacks on your server. Users of the plugin should update to version 3.30.0 or later immediately.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or data exfiltration, which may violate GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations. Organizations must ensure their WordPress environments are patched to avoid compliance violations and potential fines.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the ACF Frontend Admin by DynamiApps plugin to version 3.30.0 or later immediately. Remove or disable the plugin if updating is not possible. Review and sanitize user input in post content to prevent malicious deserialization.
