Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-85422, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-08

Last updated on: 2026-10-08

Assigner: Brocade Communications Systems, LLC

Description

A vulnerability in Brocade ASCG version before 3.5.0 could allow an attacker to obtain a static cryptographic key hardcoded into the software binaries to secure sensitive data at rest and to protect inter-node communication protocols. An attacker who extracts this key can decrypt stored management credentials or craft forged administrative synchronization messages.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves a hardcoded static cryptographic key in Brocade ASCG software versions before 3.5.0. Attackers can extract this key to decrypt sensitive data at rest or forge administrative synchronization messages.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves a hardcoded cryptographic key in Brocade ASCG versions before 3.5.0. Detection requires checking the software version and inspecting binaries for the static key. No specific commands are provided in the context.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could decrypt stored management credentials or impersonate legitimate nodes to send fake synchronization messages, potentially gaining unauthorized access to systems or data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA, potentially resulting in compliance breaches and legal penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Brocade ASCG to version 3.5.0 or later to remove the hardcoded cryptographic key. Verify the update by checking the software version and confirming the absence of the static key in binaries.
