Last updated on: 2026-10-08

Assigner: Brocade Communications Systems, LLC

Description

An authentication and access control bypass vulnerability exists in the web server management interface of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1. The web dispatcher routine evaluates internal management VLAN trust decisions using the client-supplied HTTP host header instead of the actual socket transport layer source IP address. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to bypass IP-filtering access control lists (ACLs) and obtain sensitive device metadata (such as model, serial number, hardware revision, and firmware version) without authentication.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an authentication and access control bypass in Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1. The web server management interface incorrectly uses the HTTP host header instead of the actual source IP address to evaluate trust decisions. This allows attackers to bypass IP-filtering access control lists and access sensitive device metadata without authentication.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect HTTP host headers in requests to Brocade Fabric OS web interfaces. Check if the host header is used for access control instead of the source IP. Monitor for unauthorized access to device metadata endpoints.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to bypass security controls and retrieve sensitive device information such as model, serial number, hardware revision, and firmware version. This could lead to unauthorized access or further attacks on the network infrastructure.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized access to sensitive device metadata without authentication, which could expose system information that may be subject to data protection requirements under standards like GDPR or HIPAA. Unauthorized access to such data could lead to compliance violations if it involves personal or protected health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Brocade Fabric OS to version 10.0.1 or later to address the authentication bypass issue.
