SQL Injection in SAP Commerce Cloud

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-89113, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-13

Last updated on: 2026-10-13

Assigner: SAP SE

Description

SAP Commerce Cloud does not sufficiently validate certain user-supplied input before it is incorporated into a database query. An authenticated user could send specially crafted requests to affected functionality to inject arbitrary SQL commands. Successful exploitation could allow the user to read, modify or delete sensitive data from the application's database, resulting in a high impact on confidentiality, integrity and availability of the application.

Exploitability

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

SAP Commerce Cloud has a flaw where user input is not properly checked before being used in database queries. An authenticated attacker could send crafted requests to inject SQL commands. This allows reading, modifying, or deleting sensitive database data, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

Detecting SQL injection vulnerabilities like this one typically involves monitoring application logs for suspicious input patterns, such as single quotes or SQL keywords. Use tools like SQLMap to test for vulnerabilities by sending crafted requests to endpoints. Check for unusual database queries or errors in logs that indicate injection attempts.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could let attackers access or alter sensitive data in the database, potentially leading to data breaches, unauthorized changes, or system disruptions. It requires an authenticated user but poses significant risks to data security.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) requirements. Non-compliance may result in legal penalties, fines, or reputational damage due to compromised sensitive data.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest SAP Commerce Cloud patches from SAP Note 3800517. Implement input validation to sanitize user-supplied data before database queries. Use parameterized queries or prepared statements to prevent SQL injection. Restrict database permissions to limit potential damage from exploitation.
