Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Siemens RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW versions before V6.0. It allows authenticated attackers to access and manipulate database queries used for subnet management. This could lead to unauthorized reading, modification, or deletion of subnet configurations, potentially causing information disclosure or data tampering.

Detection Guidance

Since this vulnerability affects RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW versions below V6.0, detection involves checking the installed version of the software. Use commands like 'rpm -qa | grep ruggedcom-crossbow' on Linux or check the installed programs list in Windows. If the version is below V6.0, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

If you use RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW versions before V6.0, an attacker with valid credentials could alter your network subnet settings. This may disrupt network operations, cause data leaks, or allow unauthorized changes to critical infrastructure configurations.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or manipulation, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations using affected versions may face compliance violations, potential fines, and reputational damage due to compromised data integrity.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW to version V6.0 or later to address the improper access control in subnet management.
