Executive Summary

This is an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability in the Testimonials by BestWebSoft WordPress plugin versions 1.0.5 to 1.0.8. The flaw exists because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape user input in the 'offset' parameter before using it in SQL queries. Attackers can exploit this to inject malicious SQL code into the query.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the WordPress plugin 'Testimonials by BestWebSoft' versions 1.0.5 to 1.0.8 is installed. Look for unauthenticated SQL injection attempts via the 'offset' parameter in web server logs or security tools.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to read, modify, or delete sensitive data from your WordPress database, including user credentials, posts, or other plugin data. Since it requires no authentication, any unauthenticated user can potentially access or manipulate your site's database.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or exposure of personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and security. Organizations may face legal penalties, fines, or reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately disable or uninstall the 'Testimonials by BestWebSoft' plugin if you are using versions 1.0.5 to 1.0.8. Monitor for suspicious SQL queries or database activity. No official patch is available yet, so removing the plugin is the best mitigation.
