Executive Summary

This is an out of bounds write vulnerability in Google Chrome's GPU component. It allows a remote attacker who has already compromised the renderer process to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to Google Chrome versions prior to 154.0.8037.92. To detect it, check your Chrome version by running chrome --version or chrome://version in the browser. If your version is below 154.0.8037.92, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your system, potentially stealing data, installing malware, or taking control of your device. It specifically targets users who visit malicious websites.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially lead to unauthorized code execution and data exfiltration, which may violate data protection requirements under GDPR and HIPAA if sensitive data is compromised. The high-severity out-of-bounds write in Chrome's GPU component increases the risk of unauthorized access to personal or health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 154.0.8037.92 or later to address the out of bounds write vulnerability in GPU. Disable GPU acceleration if updates are not immediately available.
