Executive Summary

NVIDIA vGPU Manager has a flaw in its GPU System Processor plugin. A guest VM user can send a specially crafted RPC message to trigger an out-of-bounds write. This could allow them to execute arbitrary code, escalate privileges, tamper with data, cause denial of service, or leak information.

Detection Guidance

Detection of this vulnerability requires checking for vulnerable versions of NVIDIA vGPU Manager. Review installed versions and compare against NVIDIA's security advisories. Monitor for unusual RPC traffic or out-of-bounds write patterns in GPU System Processor logs.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could let an attacker gain control over the host system, steal sensitive data, disrupt services, or install malware. It primarily affects environments using NVIDIA vGPU for virtualization.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data tampering, information disclosure, and denial of service, which may violate GDPR's data integrity and confidentiality requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Unauthorized code execution or privilege escalation could also result in non-compliance with access control and audit requirements in these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Update NVIDIA vGPU Manager to the latest patched version as soon as possible to address the out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the GSP plugin.
