Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves improper input validation in the authentication system of Google Chrome before version 154.0.8037.57. A remote attacker who already compromised the renderer process could trick a user into visiting a malicious HTML page, potentially leading to sensitive information disclosure.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves improper input validation in Google Chrome's Auth component. Detection requires checking the Chrome version installed on systems. If the version is below 154.0.8037.57, the system is vulnerable. Use commands like 'google-chrome --version' on Linux or check 'chrome://settings/help' in the browser to verify the version.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this flaw could allow an attacker to steal sensitive data from your browser session, such as login credentials or personal information, even if they only have control over the renderer process.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability involves improper input validation in Google Chrome, allowing a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information via a crafted HTML page. This could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, which may violate GDPR and HIPAA compliance requirements for data protection and confidentiality.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 154.0.8037.57 or later to address the improper input validation issue.
