Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an unrestricted file upload flaw in three content management systems: C97net qEngine CMS up to 6.0.0, Kemana Directory up to 1.5.6, and Cart Engine up to 3.0.0. Editor-role users can upload PHP scripts via image fields to the web-accessible /public/image directory, allowing remote code execution on the server.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized PHP files in the /public/image directory of affected systems (qEngine CMS, Kemana Directory, Cart Engine). Look for files uploaded via page_image or cat_image parameters. Review server logs for suspicious upload activities or requests to /public/image/*.php.

Impact Analysis

Attackers with editor access can upload malicious PHP scripts to execute arbitrary code on the server. This could lead to full system compromise, data theft, or further network infiltration. The vulnerability has a high CVSS score of 8.7, indicating significant risk.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update affected software to patched versions (qEngine CMS 7.0+, Kemana Directory 1.5.7+, Cart Engine 3.0.1+). Restrict file uploads to non-executable formats and disable PHP execution in /public/image directories. Remove any unauthorized PHP files found in upload directories.
