Executive Summary

This is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in IBM Cloud Pak System versions 2.3.6.0 and 2.3.6.1. It allows attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript code into the Web UI, which can alter intended functionality and potentially lead to credential disclosure within a trusted session.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this XSS vulnerability typically involves checking the version of IBM Cloud Pak System. Use commands like 'rpm -qa | grep ibm-cloud-pak-system' or check the web UI version in the admin panel. If running versions 2.3.6.0 or 2.3.6.1, the system is vulnerable.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, which may violate GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements. Organizations must address it to maintain compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade IBM Cloud Pak System to version 2.3.6.2 or later immediately. IBM does not provide workarounds, so upgrading is the only mitigation. Verify the upgrade by checking the version post-installation.
