Sensitive Data Exposure in Management Console and Product Files

Vulnerability report for CVE-2025-7203, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-19

Last updated on: 2026-10-19

Assigner: WSO2 LLC

Description

The Management Console and product files expose sensitive data, including remote log server credentials, truststore passwords, and keystore passwords, in plain text. This occurs because the system does not sufficiently protect or obscure these credentials when the remote logging feature is enabled. An attacker with administrative access to the Management Console or direct access to product files can retrieve these sensitive credentials. This allows for potential manipulation of log entries and compromise of the integrity and confidentiality of the remote log server.

Executive Summary

CVE-2025-7203 is a vulnerability in multiple WSO2 products where sensitive data like remote log server credentials, truststore passwords, and keystore passwords are exposed in plain text when the remote logging feature is enabled. Attackers with administrative access to the Management Console or direct access to product files can retrieve these credentials.

Detection Guidance

Check configuration files like deployment.toml for plaintext credentials related to remote logging, truststore, or keystore passwords. Search for sensitive keywords such as 'password', 'truststore', or 'keystore' in log files or system directories where WSO2 products are installed.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to access sensitive credentials, potentially manipulate log entries, and compromise the integrity and confidentiality of the remote log server. It could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches if exploited.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability exposes sensitive credentials in plain text, which could lead to unauthorized access to log servers and manipulation of log entries. This compromises data integrity and confidentiality, violating GDPR's principles of data protection and HIPAA's requirements for safeguarding protected health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply public fixes or update to specified versions as recommended by WSO2. Configure deployment.toml to encrypt secrets and hide them. Rotate all sensitive credentials including remote log server details, truststore, and keystore passwords.
