Executive Summary

Dell OpenManage Enterprise versions before 4.8.0 have an OS Command Injection vulnerability. This means a highly privileged remote attacker could send specially crafted input to execute arbitrary commands on the system.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking the installed version of Dell OpenManage Enterprise. Compare the version against 4.8.0. Use commands like 'rpm -qa | grep OpenManage' on Linux or check the installed programs list in Windows.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control of the affected system, steal data, install malware, or disrupt operations. Since it requires high privileges, the risk is significant if the system is exposed to untrusted networks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access controls. Organizations may face fines or penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Dell OpenManage Enterprise to version 4.8.0 or later immediately. Ensure only trusted users have high privileges and remote access. Monitor network traffic for suspicious commands.
