Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security SAML Replay Attack Vulnerability

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-103314, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-19

Last updated on: 2026-10-19

Assigner: redhat-SADP

Description

A flaw was found in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes (RHACS). The Central SAML authentication ACS endpoint does not retain used SAML assertion or response identifiers to prevent replay. An attacker who obtains a valid, unexpired signed SAML response can submit it multiple times and receive distinct Central authentication tokens for the mapped identity.

CWE ID Description
CWE-294 A capture-replay flaw exists when the design of the product makes it possible for a malicious user to sniff network traffic and bypass authentication by replaying it to the server in question to the same effect as the original message (or with minor changes).

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes (RHACS). The Central SAML authentication endpoint does not prevent replay attacks, meaning an attacker with a valid, unexpired SAML response can submit it multiple times to receive new authentication tokens for the same identity.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor logs for repeated SAML authentication attempts from the same source or multiple authentication tokens issued for the same identity. Check if the Central SAML ACS endpoint is accessible from untrusted networks. Review SAML assertion lifetimes and replay attempts in authentication logs.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain unauthorized access to RHACS by replaying a stolen SAML response, potentially allowing them to impersonate legitimate users and perform actions within the system. This could lead to data breaches or unauthorized changes in Kubernetes clusters.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access, violating data protection requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. It may result in unauthorized data exposure or modification, compromising compliance with these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies
  • Restrict network access to the Central SAML ACS endpoint to trusted identity providers and networks.
  • Reduce SAML assertion lifetimes at the identity provider to minimize the window for replay attacks.
  • Disable SAML authentication if not required, as deployments without SAML are unaffected.
