CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an SQL injection flaw in the Mobile builder WordPress plugin version 1.4.2 or earlier. It occurs because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape the 'delivery_id' parameter before using it in SQL queries. This allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious SQL code if the site also has the WCFM Delivery add-on installed.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your WordPress site uses the Mobile Builder plugin version 1.4.2 or earlier and the WCFM Delivery add-on. Monitor network traffic for suspicious SQL queries targeting the 'delivery_id' parameter. Use tools like WPScan to scan for vulnerable plugins.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access, modify, or delete sensitive data in your WordPress database, such as user credentials, posts, or plugin settings. They might also gain administrative access to your site or use it as a foothold for further attacks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or exposure of personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements. Organizations may face fines, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Mobile Builder plugin to the latest version if available. If no update exists, consider disabling the plugin or the WCFM Delivery add-on until a patch is released. Monitor for unusual database activity and restrict access to admin interfaces.
