Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves incorrect authorization in Google Chrome's FileSystem component. A remote attacker could exploit it through social engineering to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability cannot be directly detected with commands as it requires analyzing the specific version of Google Chrome installed. Check if your Chrome version is prior to 155.0.8059.39 using chrome://settings/help or system package managers.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your system outside the browser's security sandbox. This could lead to unauthorized access to your data, installation of malware, or other harmful actions.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. The high-severity authorization flaw allows arbitrary code execution, risking data breaches or unauthorized data exposure.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later immediately. Disable automatic updates temporarily if needed, but prioritize patching to prevent exploitation.
