Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves incorrect authorization in FontAccess within Google Chrome versions before 155.0.8059.39. A remote attacker who already compromised the renderer process could exploit this to bypass system access restrictions using a specially crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to Google Chrome versions prior to 155.0.8059.39. Detection involves checking the installed Chrome version. On Windows, run: wmic product where name='Google Chrome' get version. On Linux, check the version via the package manager or run: google-chrome --version. If the version is below 155.0.8059.39, the system is vulnerable.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized access via a compromised renderer process, which could lead to data exposure or manipulation. Such breaches may violate GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later to address the incorrect authorization issue in FontAccess.
