Executive Summary

This vulnerability in ssh-keygen of OpenSSH before version 10.6 involves incorrect certificate expiration times due to Daylight Saving time handling errors. Users in specific Antarctic locations may experience slightly more severe effects.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to OpenSSH versions before 10.6 and relates to incorrect certificate expiration times due to Daylight Saving time handling. To detect it, check your OpenSSH version using 'ssh -V' or 'dpkg -l | grep openssh-server'. If the version is below 10.6, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

The impact is limited but could allow unauthorized access or certificate misuse if expiration times are miscalculated. The low CVSS score (2.5) suggests minimal risk under normal conditions.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability does not directly impact compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or similar standards. The issue involves incorrect certificate expiration times due to Daylight Saving time mishandling in ssh-keygen, which primarily affects authentication reliability rather than data protection or privacy requirements.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade OpenSSH to version 10.6 or later to address the Daylight Saving time handling issue in ssh-keygen.
