Executive Summary

ColdFusion has an Incorrect Authorization vulnerability that allows low-privileged attackers to execute arbitrary code on the system. This occurs because the application fails to properly restrict access, enabling unauthorized actions. Exploitation does not require user interaction and depends on external conditions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control of the affected system, leading to potential data breaches, system compromise, or further network infiltration. Since exploitation does not require user interaction, attacks could be automated or widespread.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access controls. Organizations may face legal penalties, fines, or reputational damage due to non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Adobe for ColdFusion 2023 or 2025 immediately. Restrict network access to ColdFusion administration interfaces. Monitor for unusual code execution or unauthorized changes. Disable unnecessary services and review user permissions.
