Description

qiujie mall-server 0.0.1-SNAPSHOT contains an integer overflow in CartServiceImpl that allows an authenticated user to wrap a cart quantity to a negative value. The order creation flow does not validate the resulting quantity and passes it to the stock update query, increasing inventory and creating negative-value orders.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an integer overflow in the qiujie mall-server 0.0.1-SNAPSHOT. An authenticated user can exploit it by adding a product to the cart with a quantity of 2,147,483,647 twice. Java's integer arithmetic wraps the combined quantity to -2. When an order is created, the negative quantity is accepted and passed to the stock update, increasing inventory instead of decreasing it. This results in negative-value orders and compromises inventory integrity.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor for negative inventory values or orders with negative quantities in your database. Check logs for repeated POST requests to /portal/cart/add or /portal/order/create with unusually high quantities. Use SQL queries to identify negative stock values or orders with negative totals.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows an attacker to manipulate product inventory by creating orders with negative quantities. This can lead to stock levels increasing unexpectedly, potential financial losses, and disruption of normal business operations. The negative-value orders may also affect accounting and order management systems.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update to a patched version of qiujie mall-server. Implement server-side validation to reject negative quantities in carts and orders. Add checks in CartServiceImpl and OrderServiceImpl to ensure quantities are positive before processing. Review and roll back any negative inventory changes.
