Executive Summary

This vulnerability allows a user to upload a file with malicious JSP or JSPX code disguised as a report export. The attacker can specify any file contents and bypass authentication checks, enabling them to execute arbitrary commands on the server when the file is accessed.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain full control of the affected server, steal sensitive data, install malware, or disrupt services. Since authentication can be bypassed, even unprivileged users may exploit this to run malicious code remotely.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability likely violates compliance requirements for data protection and security, such as GDPR (data breaches) and HIPAA (unauthorized access to health data). It undermines integrity, confidentiality, and availability of sensitive information.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately restrict file uploads to only allow specific safe file types and extensions. Disable directory listing to prevent unauthorized access to uploaded files. Apply patches or updates if available from the vendor. Review and restrict server-side execution permissions for uploaded files.
