Executive Summary

Adobe Experience Manager has a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A low-privileged attacker can inject malicious scripts into vulnerable form fields. When a victim visits the affected page, the malicious JavaScript executes in their browser.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this stored XSS vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager requires manual inspection of form fields and user input areas. Check for improper input validation in forms, comments, or other text fields where user data is stored and later rendered without sanitization. Use browser developer tools to inspect network requests and responses for suspicious script tags or payloads. Review server logs for unusual input patterns or error messages related to XSS.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal sensitive data like session cookies or personal information. They might also perform actions on your behalf, such as changing account settings or redirecting you to malicious sites. The impact depends on the victim's privileges and the data accessible.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements. Organizations may face fines or penalties if they fail to protect user data due to such vulnerabilities.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches or updates from Adobe for Adobe Experience Manager. Review and sanitize all form fields to prevent script injection. Restrict user privileges to minimize attack surface. Monitor affected systems for unusual activity or unauthorized changes.
