Description

The FlexStock – Product Stock Sync with Google Sheets for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'products[].post_content' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.17.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This is exploitable by any Subscriber-level user because the plugin's admin_enqueue_scripts callback exposes the REST bearer token in the Dashboard page source via wp_localize_script() without a capability check, and the REST endpoint's permission_callback validates only that bearer token rather than performing a current_user_can() capability check.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) flaw in the FlexStock plugin for WordPress. It allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access to inject malicious scripts into web pages via the 'products[].post_content' parameter. The plugin fails to properly sanitize input and escape output, enabling script execution when users view infected pages.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized scripts in WordPress pages or posts by inspecting page sources for injected code. Look for unusual REST bearer tokens exposed in the Dashboard page source via browser developer tools.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal user sessions, redirect users to malicious sites, or deface your website. Since any subscriber can exploit it, unauthorized users may gain control over your WordPress site's content or compromise visitor data without needing high-level privileges.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data breaches, violating GDPR (if personal data is exposed) or HIPAA (if protected health information is compromised). Non-compliance may result in fines, legal penalties, and reputational damage due to insufficient security controls.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the FlexStock plugin to the latest version beyond 3.17.2. Remove unnecessary user roles with subscriber-level access. Review and sanitize all user inputs in WordPress pages or posts.
