Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-108335, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-14

Last updated on: 2026-10-15

Assigner: Hitachi Vantara

Description

When the password reset functionality is enabled, and email is configured, an attacker could take over any account using a brute-force attack. There is no rate limiting on the attempts to enter the reset code, leading to the possibility of a brute force solution to the password reset challenge. An attacker could gain administrative access to the application and perform actions like configuring the service or requesting log collection. Executive Summary

This vulnerability allows an attacker to take over any account by exploiting the password reset feature. Since there is no rate limiting on reset code attempts, an attacker can use brute force to guess the correct code and gain access. Administrative functions like service configuration or log collection could then be performed.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires monitoring for excessive password reset attempts without rate limiting. Check application logs for repeated reset code submissions from the same IP or user. Enable intrusion detection systems to flag unusual reset request patterns. Inspect network traffic for repeated requests to password reset endpoints.

Impact Analysis

If you use the affected Hitachi Vantara Remote Ops Agent, an attacker could gain administrative access to your application. This may allow them to modify settings or request logs, but they cannot access device credentials or customer data directly.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by allowing unauthorized administrative access to the application. Administrative access could lead to improper handling of personal or sensitive data, violating confidentiality and integrity requirements under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Disable the password reset functionality if not required. Implement rate limiting on password reset attempts to prevent brute-force attacks. Ensure administrative access is restricted and monitored.
