Description

The UiChemy – Convert Figma, Prompts and AI Builds to Elementor, Gutenberg and Bricks plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'actions[save_builder][data][elements][...][settings][slot_{N}_link][url]' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 5.3.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The injected javascript: payload fires on click rather than on page load, making exploitation contingent on a privileged user such as an Editor or Administrator clicking the attacker-crafted link while reviewing or previewing the Contributor's post.

Executive Summary

The UiChemy WordPress plugin has a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the 'actions[save_builder][data][elements][...][settings][slot_{N}_link][url]' parameter. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts into pages. The injected scripts execute when a privileged user like an Editor or Administrator clicks a crafted link while reviewing a post.

Detection Guidance

Check for unauthorized scripts in WordPress pages or posts, especially those with contributor-level access or higher. Inspect the 'actions[save_builder][data][elements][...][settings][slot_{N}_link][url]' parameter for suspicious URLs or payloads. Review user activity logs for unexpected script injections or modifications to page content.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could inject scripts that steal sensitive data, such as cookies or session tokens, from users viewing the compromised page. It could also redirect users to malicious sites or perform actions on their behalf. Since the payload triggers on click rather than page load, exploitation depends on a privileged user interacting with the link.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to user data, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements for protected health information. If exploited, it may result in data breaches, triggering mandatory breach notifications and potential fines under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the UiChemy plugin to the latest version beyond 5.3.0. Remove or restrict contributor-level access to untrusted users. Implement a web application firewall to block malicious script injections. Regularly audit WordPress pages and posts for unauthorized changes or scripts.
