Executive Summary

Adobe Experience Manager has a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A low-privileged attacker can inject malicious scripts into vulnerable form fields. When a victim visits the affected page, the malicious JavaScript executes in their browser.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this stored XSS vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager requires manual inspection of form fields and input validation checks. Review all user-input fields (forms, comments, etc.) for improper sanitization. Use browser developer tools to inspect submitted data and look for unescaped or improperly encoded inputs. No specific commands are provided for automated detection.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal session cookies, redirect users to phishing sites, or perform actions on behalf of the victim. Users with access to sensitive data or admin privileges are at higher risk of exploitation.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements. Organizations may face compliance penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Adobe for Adobe Experience Manager. Implement strict input validation and output encoding for all user-supplied data. Use Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to mitigate impact of any injected scripts. Restrict low-privileged user permissions to reduce attack surface.
