Executive Summary

Froxlor 0.10.0 before 2.3.14 has a missing authorization flaw where reseller accounts can read MySQL server and cronjob configurations restricted to full administrators via API calls. Resellers can access metadata like hostnames, ports, usernames, TLS settings, and cron details by calling MysqlServer.listing, MysqlServer.get, or Cronjobs.listing through api.php.

Detection Guidance

Check Froxlor API logs for unauthorized access attempts to MysqlServer.listing, MysqlServer.get, or Cronjobs.listing endpoints. Inspect API responses for metadata like MySQL server hostnames, ports, or cronjob details that should be restricted to full administrators.

Impact Analysis

A reseller could gather sensitive server configuration details, potentially aiding further attacks. However, actual credentials are not exposed as password fields are stripped. The impact is limited to metadata exposure rather than direct system compromise.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows resellers to access metadata such as MySQL server hostnames, ports, management usernames, TLS settings, and cronjob details via API calls. While no credentials are exposed, unauthorized access to configuration data could violate data protection requirements under GDPR or HIPAA if it involves personal or sensitive information. The improper authorization check may lead to non-compliance with access control policies required by these standards.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Froxlor to version 2.3.14 or later to patch the missing authorization flaw. Review API access logs for suspicious activity and restrict reseller API permissions until the update is applied.
