Description

Roo Code through 3.54.0 contains a command approval bypass vulnerability in getCommandDecision() that allows attackers to auto-approve denied shell commands by prefixing them with a bare >& redirect. Attackers using indirect prompt injection can make the allowlist match a redirect target like echo while the shell runs the denied command on the developer machine.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-110202 is a command approval bypass in Roo Code versions up to 3.54.0. It allows attackers to bypass shell command allow/deny lists by using a bare >& redirect. The vulnerability occurs because the system strips redirections like 2>&1 but incorrectly matches a bare >& due to an incomplete regex. This causes the redirection to be removed while leaving its target in command position, allowing denied commands to execute without approval.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability enables attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands on a developer's machine without user consent. By crafting commands with >& followed by an allowlisted prefix, attackers can bypass auto-approval and run malicious commands. This could lead to unauthorized system access, data theft, or further compromise of the development environment.
