Description

Aureus ERP through 1.6.0 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read unpublished draft blog posts via the customer-facing post view page. Attackers who know or guess a post slug can retrieve the full title, content, image, tags, author and publish date because PostResource skips authorization and ViewPost ignores is_published.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-110218 is an authorization bypass flaw in Aureus ERP 1.6.0's customer-facing blog module. It allows unauthenticated attackers to access unpublished draft blog posts by guessing or knowing the post slug. The vulnerability occurs because authorization checks are disabled globally and the ViewPost page ignores the is_published filter, exposing sensitive content like internal plans or HR announcements.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if unpublished blog posts are accessible via direct URLs. Use tools like curl to request draft post URLs and verify if they return 200 OK responses with full content. Example: curl -I http://<target>/blog/post/<slug>. If the response includes full post data without authentication, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

Unauthenticated attackers can read unpublished draft posts, potentially exposing sensitive business information such as internal roadmaps, acquisition plans, or HR announcements. Exploitation requires no authentication and returns full post content with metadata and images via a 200 OK response.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR and HIPAA due to unauthorized access to sensitive unpublished content such as internal roadmaps, acquisition plans, or HR announcements. GDPR requires protection of personal data, and HIPAA mandates safeguards for protected health information. Unauthorized disclosure of such content violates confidentiality requirements under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update to the latest Aureus ERP version beyond 1.6.0. If unavailable, enforce the is_published filter in ViewPost and re-enable authorization checks in PostResource. Restrict draft access via policy updates and add global query scopes to prevent similar issues. Rotate slugs for unpublished posts and add noindex tags to draft pages.
