Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a missing authorization flaw in VentureDrake Laravel CRM before version 2.4.0. It allows authenticated users, including those with read-only permissions, to bypass Spatie role restrictions by exploiting Livewire action methods. These methods enable unauthorized actions like deleting deals, changing deal statuses, or modifying quotes, orders, and invoices despite restricted permissions.

Detection Guidance

Check Laravel CRM version with: composer show venturedrake/laravel-crm. If version is below 2.4.0, the system is vulnerable. Review Livewire components like DealIndex.php for missing authorization checks. Inspect routes.php for Activities, DealProducts, QuoteProducts, and OrderProducts routes lacking can: middleware.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with read-only access could delete or modify critical business data such as deals, quotes, orders, and invoices. They could also change deal statuses, delete system users, or perform unauthorized CRUD operations on sub-resources like activities and products, leading to data loss, financial discrepancies, or compliance violations.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data modifications or deletions, violating integrity and access control requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Unauthorized access to sensitive customer data (e.g., invoices, orders) may result in non-compliance with data protection regulations, potentially leading to legal penalties or reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Laravel CRM to version 2.4.0 or later immediately. Add can: middleware to Activities and Product routes in routes.php. Implement $this->authorize() checks in Livewire components like DealIndex.php before delete, won, lost, or reopen actions.
