Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a security flaw in OpenClaw ClawScan versions up to 0.1.6. It affects the function shouldSkipTargetPath in the file internal/runner/runner.go of the Static Scanner component. The flaw allows protection mechanisms to fail due to manipulation, requiring local access to exploit. A public exploit is available, and upgrading to version 0.1.7 fixes the issue.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires local access to the system running OpenClaw ClawScan up to version 0.1.6. Check the installed version with 'clawscan --version' or inspect the file internal/runner/runner.go for the shouldSkipTargetPath function. If the version is below 0.1.7 or the function exists in the specified file, the system is likely vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with local access could bypass security protections, potentially leading to unauthorized actions or data exposure. The low CVSS scores suggest limited impact but still pose a risk if exploited.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability in OpenClaw ClawScan up to 0.1.6 involves a protection mechanism failure in the Static Scanner component. This could potentially lead to unauthorized access or data breaches if exploited locally. Such breaches may impact compliance with standards like GDPR or HIPAA, depending on the data processed by the affected system.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade OpenClaw ClawScan to version 0.1.7 or later immediately. Apply the patch 9f6a6fbb9f1137345566d0ab44c73893dfe112fa if available. Ensure no untrusted local users have access to the system until patched, as exploitation requires local access.
