Executive Summary

CVE-2026-111169 is an authorization bypass vulnerability in La Suite Docs through version 6.0.0. It allows authenticated users to write comments in document threads they do not have access to by exploiting a thread UUID. Attackers can send a POST request with their own document's resource_id to insert comments into another document's thread without proper authorization.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor HTTP POST requests to comment endpoints for mismatched thread IDs and document resource IDs. Check logs for requests where the thread UUID does not align with the document path. Use tools like Wireshark or tcpdump to inspect traffic for suspicious comment insertion attempts.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow unauthorized users to post comments in restricted document threads, potentially leading to data leakage, misinformation, or disruption of collaborative work. It undermines document access controls and could be used to inject malicious or inappropriate content into private discussions.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability may violate compliance requirements for data access controls in GDPR and HIPAA. It allows unauthorized access to document threads, which could result in unauthorized processing or disclosure of personal or sensitive data, leading to potential legal and regulatory penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the patch from pull request #2838 to ensure comment threads are bound to the correct document path. Update to the latest version of La Suite Docs. Review and restrict access to comment endpoints. Monitor for unauthorized comment insertions in logs.
