Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an improper file access permission issue in the Electronic Delivery Item Inspection Support System by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It allows files in the installation folder to be tampered with due to incorrect default permissions, which could lead to arbitrary code execution.

Detection Guidance

Check file permissions in the installation directory of the Electronic Delivery Item Inspection Support System. Look for files with overly permissive access (e.g., write access for all users). Use commands like 'ls -la' on Linux or 'icacls' on Windows to review permissions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this flaw to modify files in the installation directory, potentially executing malicious code on the affected system. This could lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system compromise, depending on the privileges of the application.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating confidentiality and integrity requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Non-compliance may result in legal penalties, data breach notifications, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Update to the latest version of the software or use the latest installer provided by the developer. Ensure default file permissions are corrected to restrict unauthorized modifications.
