CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
CWE-74 The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a SQL injection flaw in Osclass versions up to 8.3.1. It exists in the Item::findUserItems function of the Item.php file, where the sPattern argument is manipulated to inject malicious SQL code. The flaw allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the database.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow attackers to steal, modify, or delete sensitive data from the database, such as user credentials, personal information, or financial records. It may also enable unauthorized access to the system or disruption of services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations due to unauthorized data access or breaches. It may result in legal penalties, loss of trust, and reputational damage for organizations handling sensitive data.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Osclass to a version beyond 8.3.1 to address the SQL injection vulnerability in Item::findUserItems. If an upgrade is not immediately possible, restrict network access to the vulnerable component oc-includes/osclass/model/Item.php and monitor for unusual database queries.
