Executive Summary

This is a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Drupal UI Icons. It occurs when user input is not properly neutralized during web page generation, allowing attackers to inject malicious scripts. The flaw affects UI Icons versions from 0.0.0 to 1.1.3 and from 2.0.0 to 2.0.2.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary JavaScript in a victim's browser, potentially stealing session cookies, redirecting users to malicious sites, or performing actions on their behalf. This could lead to unauthorized data access or account compromise.

Compliance Impact

XSS vulnerabilities can violate GDPR by exposing user data or enabling unauthorized access. For HIPAA, they may compromise protected health information integrity. Compliance may be impacted if the vulnerability leads to data breaches or unauthorized access.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Drupal UI Icons to a version outside the affected ranges (0.0.0 to 1.1.3 or 2.0.0 to 2.0.2). Remove or disable the vulnerable module if updates are not immediately possible.
