SQL Injection in Mautic Administration Interface

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-115191, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-26

Last updated on: 2026-10-26

Assigner: Mautic

Description

A SQL injection vulnerability exists in a contact lookup AJAX endpoint of the Mautic administration interface (/s/ajax). A request parameter that selects the contact field to search by is not properly validated before it is used in a database query. Any authenticated Mautic user can exploit this, regardless of the role or permissions assigned to the account. Using blind (boolean-based or time-based) techniques, the attacker can run arbitrary SQL queries against the Mautic database and read any data the Mautic database user can access, including Mautic user accounts with email addresses and password hashes, contact data, and campaign and email content.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

This is a SQL injection vulnerability in Mautic's contact lookup AJAX endpoint at /s/ajax. The flaw occurs because a request parameter used to select the contact field for searching is not properly validated before being used in a database query. Any authenticated Mautic user can exploit this, regardless of their role or permissions.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SQL injection vulnerability in Mautic, monitor for suspicious requests to the /s/ajax endpoint with the action lead:getLeadIdsByFieldValue. Check web server logs for unusual SQL query patterns or time delays in responses. Use tools like SQLmap to test for blind SQL injection by sending crafted parameters to the endpoint.

Impact Analysis

An attacker can execute arbitrary SQL queries against the Mautic database using blind techniques like boolean-based or time-based methods. This allows them to read sensitive data such as Mautic user accounts with email addresses and password hashes, contact data, and campaign or email content.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade Mautic to versions 5.2.12, 6.0.10, or 7.2.2 or later. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to the /s/ajax endpoint via web server or WAF rules. Limit user accounts to trusted individuals, deactivate unused accounts, and enforce strong password policies.
