Description

Jitsu console before 2.14.0-beta.41 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability in sources/state.ts handlers that call findFirst without await, so the syncId ownership check never fails. Authenticated users knowing another workspace's sync ID can read, overwrite or delete its stream cursors, causing data re-ingestion or skipped data.

Executive Summary

Jitsu console before version 2.14.0-beta.41 has a flaw where an authorization check fails due to missing await in the sources/state.ts handlers. This allows authenticated users who know another workspace's sync ID to access, modify, or delete its stream cursors, potentially causing data re-ingestion or skipped data.

Impact Analysis

If you use Jitsu console before 2.14.0-beta.41, an attacker with your workspace's sync ID could read sensitive data, overwrite existing data, or delete stream cursors. This may lead to data corruption, loss of data integrity, or unintended data processing.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data or HIPAA by compromising protected health information. Unauthorized data access or deletion may result in non-compliance with data protection requirements, leading to legal penalties or reputational damage.
