Description

A flaw has been found in Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0. This affects an unknown function of the file /api/auth/setup of the component Schedule API. This manipulation causes command injection. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been published and may be used. The project has been completely taken offline and deprecated. The project maintainer explains: "The mentioned security risk was a design flaw that manifested primarily in local environments during earlier stages of version development. We previously addressed and resolved this specific risk; however, because the project was restricted to a small learning scope and the main versions were intended to run exclusively on localhost, the security fix was only pushed directly to our GitHub repository before it went private." This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a command injection flaw in Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0 affecting the /api/auth/setup endpoint in the Schedule API component. It allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands due to insufficient input validation. The project has been deprecated and taken offline by the maintainer.

Detection Guidance

Since Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0 is deprecated and no longer supported, detection may involve checking for signs of command injection attempts targeting the /api/auth/setup endpoint. Review server logs for unusual requests to this path, especially those containing shell metacharacters or payloads. Ensure no instances of the software are running locally or on your network.

Impact Analysis

If you are running the affected Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0 version, an attacker could remotely execute commands on your system through the vulnerable API endpoint. However, the maintainer states the project was restricted to local environments and deprecated, reducing real-world impact.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately remove or isolate any instances of Travisun Opptrix 0.4.0 from your systems. Since the project is deprecated and the maintainer has taken it offline, there are no official patches. Monitor network traffic for any signs of exploitation attempts targeting the /api/auth/setup endpoint.
